A Letter from our Founder

I’ve loved stories since I was a young child. One of my earliest passions was reading, most of my childhood being lost between the covers of a book. Stories of triumph, stories of heartache, stories of love and adventure. These all appealed to me, and as I grew older, I realized why.

These stories live in us. We each have stories of adventure and love, triumph and loss, all woven into the very fabric of our lives. We are all protagonists in our own stories, and each of our stories is made up of other stories, woven into the very fabric of our own story.

Our mother’s story plays out in our own, as well as the stories of our fathers, our grandparents, and our communities. As we are each stitched together by the very atoms of the Universe, so are we stitched together by the very stories that make up our own. Our individual human experiences are simply stories, made up of even smaller stories. We have chapters and sequels of all sorts in our own lives and it would be fair to say the human condition we all share is simply the human story. We’re in the story and we are the story.

Each of us, every single one of us, is made of stardust and stories.

And as we are the very protagonists in our own stories, so do we also have antagonists in those very same stories: the traumas, the heartaches, the limitations of sickness and ailments beyond our control. If we are the heroes of our own stories, so do we have to battle our own monsters. We face down the stories and villains that would hinder us and hurt us, that would see us diminished and depleted. We all have hills to climb and battles to fight. Eventually, we are all faced with a question: are we going to run away from the scary thing, or are we going to run toward it? I wasn’t about to learn the stories of my ancestors and grasp how incredibly they suffered, only to get to my life and run away from every scary thing that would diminish me.

When I grew into adulthood, my gifts as a psychic medium became known to me only when I began discovering my family trees and genealogy…and the stories that lived there. Learning those stories of the mothers and fathers who suffered greatly through their stories, simply so I could be here today to know my story, inspired me to lean into these gifts, lean into all of my gifts, however I could discover them and to whatever capacity they existed.

So many attributes I have are woven into my story by those who came before me. They suffered greatly to make sure I could see this day and I believe I dishonor those struggles and Ancestors if I do not lean into my gifts to help make the world a better place. Instead of running from the “scary” thing I thought my psychic mediumship to initially be, I decided to run toward the scary thing, like many of my Ancestors did, all in the interest of making the world a better place.

Since 2017 I have brought these gifts to the public, having since worked with thousands of clients. Over the course of this work, Spirit has presented a common theme. As we are all made up of stories, our own stories of triumph and the stories of triumph of those who came before us, those stories can inspire others to find the champion within their own heart to make it through the battles they face.

And those stories should be told.

Spirit has, over the course of my work as a medium, encouraged many people to write their stories, and even the stories of those who came before them, if they have access to them. Over the course of my work, Spirit has encouraged people to write their stories and share them, not only because it would be therapeutic and helpful to get those stories of triumph and tenacity out into the world, it would be helpful and therapeutic for others to read them.

If only I had a book that documented the life and spirit of my grandmother, all through her life with pictures and stories, oh how I would cherish that as one of my most sacred and treasured possessions.

In my work, there are always people who Spirit refers to as the “Keepers of Memory.” These are the people who hold onto the old shoeboxes full of family photos from the past, the family journals and Bibles, the newspaper clippings and awards that their Ancestors and Beloved Dead would have collected over the course of their lives. These “Keepers of Memory” are really encouraged by Spirit to preserve and archive those memories, to do their best to preserve them, and make sure they have a good idea of who will take on those pictures and memories once that “Keeper of Memories” passes on. If there are shoeboxes of old photos stuffed in the back of the closet, if these memories aren’t being cherished, Spirit encourages those who hold those memories to bring them out into the light of day and to preserve them, organizing them to better chronicle the names, histories, and stories of those who came before them.

Truly, before it’s too late.

I think we can all agree our world is in a strange place, as we move from a more analog society to a more digital one. We are in a changing world, where the chaotic transition from a world without the internet and social media to a world with the internet and social media is taking its toll on all of us. We’re in a place where access to stories of strength and of hope and of love can only help us. Now, more than ever in the history of humans, we need these stories. Now, more than any other time in the history of humanity, we need to preserve the stories and wisdom of those who came before us.

Knowing how that triumph runs in our very own veins can help us to shift our own stories where we’re the hero with far more strength to tap into than they realize. We are all stronger than we realize and as we focus on that strength, and the strength of those who came before us and whose strength runs in our veins, so do we find our own. We also learn from all the stories, even the stories of our loved ones who would have stumbled and not lived as well as they may have hoped. We learn from those we come from who loved and helped others so we may follow their path. We also learn from those we come from who didn’t live well and healthy lives, so we may not walk those paths.

So we may not live those particular stories.

As my own story unfolded as a psychic medium and author, the story of my husband and I came to include Deep Earth Arts, our store and studio space in Littleton, NH. As our lives and paths grew and intersected with others, so did we find people of heart and soul, creativity and enthusiasm who became dear friends to us. Here, at Deep Earth Press, we have come together as a collection of people and a collection of stories.

And what a story we’ve all been part of up to this point.

Won’t you join us as we write this new story?

Won’t you help us keep stories alive?
